Meet the Nominee: Yuyeng Lor
By Essilor USA
I am proud to nominate Ms. Yuyeng Lor as an eyecare professional for this year’s Essilor Mission Trip Contest. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Lor in the Fall of 2015 when she entered MCPHS University as a full-time candidate for the Doctor of Optometry. As Ms. Lor rigorously began pursuing her dual degree in both Optometry and the Masters of Public Health, she has also demonstrated leadership among her peers and has made a difference in the lives of others through a variety of extracurricular activities.
This is where Ms. Lor shines most and where I know her best. Ms. Lor’s passion for serving her community, acute awareness of optometry’s role in healthcare, and her exceptional clinical skills are among the many reasons why she makes a strong advocate for the underprivileged community. I was on the committee who selected Ms. Lor as one of the Optometry program’s prestigious Student Ambassadors during her second year in Optometry school. Ms. Lor was also among an elite twelve students who participated in a VOSH-CT Nicaragua Mission with me and a faculty member in January 2018. Only someone so special who possesses the compassion, drive, knowledge, capability, and support of her optometric colleagues could accomplish all of this and still maintain her studies.
Ms. Lor’s educational background is in Premedical and Health Studies, and she has been the recipient of several academic awards, including being an inductee of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and Gold Key International Honor Society. She is presently a fourth year student with the Class of 2019 and has helped make an impact on the local community through her involvement with SVOSH. I proudly nominate her for this Essilor Mission Trip Contest.
